How Can I use Keyword Research to Increase SEO?
Keyword Research can be a huge challenge when you are trying to increase your SEO Value. No matter if you are trying to find Keywords to use for Blogging, Video Blogging, or even your PPC campaign; Keyword Research can be tricky. How do you know what Keywords to choose for your Marketing Campaigns? With so many Internet Marketers, how can you outrank your competition with your Keywords? We went to one of our Experts, Gina Gaudio-Graves to give some Keyword Research Tips on how to improve your SEO.
Google has their own Keyword Tool, which I’m sure a lot of us in the Internet Marketing Industry has used at some point. One problem with Google’s Keyword, is they are using the same keyword tool for people to map out their Google Adwords Campaign. Even with using Google’s Keyword Tool, you can get a general idea of what the competition looks like, however a different Word Tracker may be more effective. The Phrase match versus the Exact Match, will get you different results, and can change your keyword into singular, plural, past, present, and future terminology. This could possibly skew your results.
One Keyword Research Tip to take into consideration is to use the Google Search to see how many results your Keyword(s) get. Ideally, under
100,000 results could allow you to reach 15-20% of the search volume. Anything higher, will get your a lower percentage, which could attract less traffic. In addition, once you get content out there with your Keywords in them, make sure you Google search those keywords to see where your content ranks on Google. This will allow you to track the content you have out there and see if your plan is effective.
What kind of Keywords work? This is a broad question, but here is an example that may be helpful. If I wanted to write an article on internet marketing, possibly one of my keywords would be Video Marketing Expert, rather than just marketing, or marketing expert. This is just an example of a longer tailed keyword that can increase the volume of your search results.
Now, where in your content should you put your Keyword(s)? You want to make sure you place your Keyword(s) in your Title, description, and tags. Using a question in your title could attract more traffic as well, because a lot of people search questions they have to be answered. So put a question mark in your title if possible. In your article, make sure you put your keyword at least twice in the body of the content. When you do this, back-link those keywords to an internal article, and external article you have posted in the past. An internal article, meaning on the same website, and an external article being to another place you have content (YouTube, affiliate, ect). These can also be called anchor links.
Here is an extra Tip for your Blog. Using Video, Audio, and an Image can help your SEO value. However, if you cannot use them all, make sure to use an image in your postings. When you use an image, keyword optimize that image. Use your Keyword(s) in the title of the image, and also go under the properties of the image and use your keyword(s) under the title, tag, author, and also you can rate the image. Once you have keyword optimized the image, then upload it to your posting. this will help with you overall SEO value.
